Research Scientist (Pharmaceutics & Drug Delivery)

The Department of Pharmaceutics & Drug delivery seeks a Research Scientist.


The position is for an independent researcher having an advanced level of experience on topical product characterization and evaluation. The candidate is expected to have an advanced level of experience in in-vivo pharmacological evaluation of natural and synthetic compounds for biological activities. The candidate is also expected to have worked on an FDA supported project. The employee in this position will work independently and as a part of a team, plan and perform experiments on different types of topical products. The employee will also work on a project related to pain management.


Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include development and evaluation of topical products, In vitro permeation testing across human cadaver tissues and characterization of microstructural properties of topical products. The responsibilities also include design, setup, and behavioral studies in laboratory animals. Participation in development of research ideas, perform complex data analyses efficiently to publish the results. Supervise and assist research activities for post docs and graduate students. Assist the PI in designing and conduct of research projects and conduct of startup projects and collection of preliminary data for future funding. Prepare animal usage protocols, attend meetings and maintain related documents. Regular maintenance of control substances log and conduct of biannual inventory. The incumbent is also required to contribute to scientific publications.

Minimum Education/Experience

Applicant must have a PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacology and a minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience in the field of topical products. A significant exposure to preclinical evaluation of topical products for pain management.
