Department Chair of Music

Job Information The University of Mississippi invites applications for the full time, 12-month administrative faculty position as Chair of the Department of Music in the College of Liberal Arts. The Chair will assume administrative responsibility for directing the Department s faculty/staff hiring, annual reviews, budgeting, course planning, curriculum, and other academic duties.
The department s mission is to prepare students for professional careers by offering bachelor s and master s degrees in music education, performance and choral conducting, master s degrees in musicology, ethnomusicology, and music theory, and a PhD in music education. Students entering our programs become part of a vibrant community led by a distinguished and enthusiastic faculty, with 25 full-time and 12 adjunct members dedicated to teaching, research and performance. Thus, our students (more than 150 majors) receive the rigorous individual attention necessary to develop their full potential in our superb classroom facilities in the newly-renovated music building and the University s world-class Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts. As a department within the College of Liberal Arts, we are also committed to offering stimulating courses and performance opportunities for non-majors. Candidates for the position must have earned a doctoral or other terminal degree or other equivalent and have a track record and experience commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor in the Department of Music at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must have a strong record of successful teaching, scholarship, and administration, a commitment to the recruitment and mentorship of diverse faculty, staff, and students, as well as demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills. The successful candidate will be expected to present a clear vision for the Department based on the University s Flagship Forward Strategic Plan (flagshipforward. olemiss. edu), be committed to the professional development of faculty, staff, and students, and be able to foster collaborations with appropriate campus constituencies.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
