Research Scientist ( School of Pharmacy )

The NIH-funded Center of Research Excellence in Natural Products Neuroscience (CORE-NPN) at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has developed a multidisciplinary team committed to evaluating the effects of natural products on the central nervous system. The Chemistry/DMPK (Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics) Research Core is seeking a well-trained scientist to carry out bioanalytical method development/validation of novel compounds and PK studies in animal models. The position is available immediately with the possibility for annual contract renewal based on performance evaluation and funding availability.   The scientist will be required to work independently and as a part of team, plan and perform experiments, analyze and interpret data, communicate results in reports and prepare manuscripts. The multidisciplinary nature of the research will allow the scientist to utilize a wide range of techniques, as well as interact and collaborate with other research groups. In addition, the scientist will direct graduate students and will assist in the development of grant applications. Minimum Education/Experience Applicants must have a PhD degree in pharmaceutics, pharmacology, chemistry or a related field. Strong expertise in LC-MS method development/validation in biological samples, PK studies in animal models and PK/PD analysis, good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to perform and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks are essential. The applicant should have a strong publication record and a clear understanding of research methodology. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
