Research Assistant Professor - MMRI

Definition of Class

The position will serve as the Associate Director the the MMRI. Research responsibilities will be to direct mineral resources related research projects that serve the mission of the MMRI. This includes development of new research ideas, writing proposals for funding, managing the projects and related funding and presenting the results of the research.

Examples of Work Performed

€ Identifies proposal opportunities and finds appropriate research partners (if needed)
€ Identify sources of external funding and writes proposals to obtain funding
€ Research and estimates the project costs and manages distribution of funds received
€ Maintain and develop working relationships with federal and state agencies in Mississippi
€ Maintain and develop working relationships with mineral, environmental and oil and gas companies and trade groups in Mississippi and the region
€ Prepares and presents research results at professional conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
€ Works with other MMRI personnel to expand the funding base of the institute

Minimum Education/Experience

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in engineering, geology, geography or other relevant science discipline.

Experience developing research projects and proposals.

Experience leading research projects.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
